What is included in a psychological assessment?

During a psychological assessments it is important for me to thorough and  comprehensive in the background information and testing. Therefore, I focus on gathering information from a variety sources which usually include psychological assessments (e.g., cognitive, achievement), rating scales about the child's behaviors, observations of the child, interviews with the child/parent/school and possibly other agencies that may have contact with the child as well.  When the assessment is completed I will provide a detailed report that presents my findings along with recommendations for future treatment.

What can I expect in during my therapy sessions?

During our time together we will first begin by completing necessary paperwork, reviewing confidentiality, and beginning to discuss what brought you and/or your child into therapy. As we continue to work together it will be important to develop a treatment plan that discusses the goal(s) of our counseling time. The following sessions will be working on those counseling goal(s) by learning new skills and discussing progress during therapy to help you grow as an individual.
